Commissioned for Deflamenco this painting is based on photographs I took of the flamenco dancer Miryam Chachmany. The posture is reminiscent of the central figure in Franciso Goya's The Third of May 1808 (1814) although here with defiance and strength emphasized by the heavy wooden support.
